Reality TV Show Completes Production In Fiji
After a banner year of TV series and film production in Fiji in 2006, the Fiji Audio Visual Commission (FAVC) today announced the completion of the production of yet another major reality TV series in Fiji.

FAVC’s Chief Executive Officer, Taniela Bolea said, “The series, which is currently not named, completed shooting earlier this week at Mana Island”. Production had started during mid January this year. The series was produced by US production company Rocket Science Laboratories for Fox TV. Mr. Bolea said the production is applying for the FAVC’s Filmmaking Incentives.

Whilst the shows producer’s are tight lipped about the nature of the show, its Supervising Producer Jarrod Harlow could only say that the general theme of the show is about gender/role reversal.
"A number of attractive women who feel like it's still a man's world are brought to a remote location to run their own society. With them are an equal number of  macho, chauvinistic guys who think men rule the world. As the show evolves we see how the men survive in a world in which they are literally manservants. They are placed in a situation where they have to obey every command from the women", said Mr. Harlow. He added that the  women will eliminate one man each week, trading him for supplies needed to build their island society. The last man standing will win a substantial amount of money.
Whilst over 130 of the cast and a few key crew members were brought in from overseas, a substantial number of locals were also directly involved in the production. Landowners also played an important part in the production and ensured its timely completion. Mr. Bolea said that, “The fact that the producers of the show used so many local crew and services is testimony to the fact that our pool of film industry-related support functions are continuing to develop to sustain the growing number of productions that we are now getting from abroad.  This, he added complements an important part of the FAVC’s function which is to develop a strong infrastructure and local services support base hence creating an enabling film production environment.
Representatives of the production company have been visiting Fiji since the end of last year scouting locations and doing preparatory work. Other reality shows that they have produced include “Joe Millionaire” and “Temptation Island”.
The series produced in Fiji is expected to air on the Fox TV Channel during June this year in the United States. The timing, Mr. Bolea said, is perfect as the beginning of this show’s airing would be around the time that “Survivor Fiji” would end the airing of its current show. “Fiji will receive a lot of exposure on primetime TV in the United States this year and the spin-offs for us will be enormous”, said Mr. Bolea.
