2008 TFL Kula Awards Winners & Prizes

The 2008 Kula Awards Prizes were sponsored by TFL, PBS, Air Pacific, SPR, Golden Manufacturers, Sofitel Resort & Spa, Vodafone, Pure Fiji, Warwick Resort & Spa and FAVC.

TFL Film Competition

2008 SPR Best Actor: Ashneel Prasad for playing the role of Max and later Mr. Punja in the Rampur College production "Some Tears Never Dry".
Prize for the school: 1GB USB
Prize for the student: 2 nights luxurious double accomodation in a twin or king ocean view room at the Sofitel Resort plus breakfast for two in the lagoon restaraunt each morning, 1 T-Shirt courtesy of Vodafone, 1 crystal trophy and a certificate.

2008 SPR Best Actress: Silika Naiqiso for playing the role of Kara's mother in the Labasa (SKM) Sangam production "The Price of Poverty".
Prize for the school: 1GB USB

2008 TFL Most Popular Film: Tilak High School production "Money, Woes and Ways"
Prize for the school: 1 Desktop Computer, 1GB USB, 10 complimentary tickets to Village 4 or 6, FOC Broadband & 3 months rental, 1 crystal trophy and a certificate.

2008 TFL Kula Best Film: "The Price of Poverty" produced by Labasa (SKM) Sangam College

PBS Bollywood Dance Competition

2008 Air Pacific Best Individual Dancer: St Vincent College

2008 PBS Best Costume: Rishikul Sanatan College
Prize for the school: 1 satelite dish, 6 months free subscription to PBS, a crystal trophy and a certificate

2008 Golden Manufacturers Most Entertaining Group: MGM High School
Prize for the school: $500 cash, 10 complimentary tickets to Village 4 or 6, 1 crystal trophy and a certificate.

2008 PBS Best Dance Performance: Khalsa College
Prize for the school: 1 satelite dish, 1 year free subscription to PBS, a crystal trophy and a certificate

Judges Special Commendation: Raksha Chand, Rishikul Sanatan College
Prize for the student: 1 T-shirt, courtesy of Vodafone, 1 Kula Awards T-shirt, 1 crystal trophy and a certificate.

All Participating Schools Receive:
  • $200 cash each
  • The furthest travelling schools, Labasa (SKM) Sangam College and St. Bede's College, receive $300 each
  • $100 Telephone Credit, courtesy of TFL
  • Passes to the premier of the film "Pirates Island- Lost Treasure of Fiji"
  • A Vodafone each with $11 talktime, courtesy of Vodafone
  • All the supervising teachers in both competitions receive gift packs
