Fiji At The American Film Market
The FAVC has just had a very successful outing at the American Film Market (AFM). The AFM, an annual event, was held at the Loews Hotel in Santa Monica, California from 5th - 12th November 2008. It is produced by IFTA - The Independent Film & Television Alliance and is the highlights of all Hollywood gatherings. FAVC CEO, Taniela Bolea said, "The AFM is the market place where production and distribution deals are closed as this is the last film market of the year."

The AFM attracts participants from approximately 70 countries. During the 8-day event, close to 8000 leaders converge for deal making, screenings, seminars, premieres, red carpet events and networking. Participants included acquisition & development executives, agents, attorneys, directors, distributors, festival directors financiers, film commissioners, producers, writers and the world press.

The FAVC is one of the premiere sponsors of this event and its presence at the market for the fourth time in this capacity continued to raise Fiji's profile in the filmmaking world. As a result of FAVC's participation at this market and meetings with producers, a number of significant producers have indicated interest in Fiji. Several of these are at advanced discussion stage and are highly likely to be implemented in 2009.
