2009 TFL KULA FILM AWARDS

Natabua High School scooped the main prize, the "2009 TFL Best Film" for their production, "Jaded" at the 2009 TFL Kula Film Awards. This was the fourth year of the Awards and near capacity crowds attended to see the talent on display by our young people. The crowd’s response was overwhelming.
The 2009 TFL Kula Film Awards & the FAVC Dance Competition was held on July 3 & 4 2009 at the Tattersalls Leisure Center (National Gymnasium). The Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Electoral Reform, Public Enterprises and Corruption, Industry, Tourism and Trade, Mr. Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum was chief guest for the first night and the Prime Minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama was chief guest on the main Awards night.

FAVC acknowledges with deep appreciation the sponsorship provided by the major sponsor of the event Telecom Fiji Limited (TFL) and other sponsors and supporters such as Air Pacific, SPR, SPC, Fiji TV, Vodafone, USP and Williams & Goslings for making this such a successful event.

SCHOOLS’ FILM COMPETITION

18 schools took part in the schools’ competition – a record number. All the entries were judged by a panel of independent judges. Awards were given out for Best Film, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Script, Best Director and Most Popular Film which was determined through public voting.

For the first time, 3 films entered in the Open category. This competition was for amateur and professional filmmakers.

The "Best Film" in this category was "LIVE YOUR LIFE", A PRODUCTION BY ICE BREAKERS

DANCE COMPETITION

16 schools competed in the FAVC Dance Competition. It was a night of full of fun and energy, which had the Tattersalls Leisure Centre reverberating with the sounds of Bulawood, Bollywood and Hollywood.
