19 June 2009
The Fiji Audio Visual Commission (FAVC) has been appointed the Official Submitting Organization for Fiji films for the 2009 Asia Pacific Screen Awards. Fifty-three Official Submitting Organizations have been invited by APSA and FIAPF-International Federation of Film Producers Associations to submit films to represent their country or area in the 2009 Awards competition.
FAVC's Marketing & Public Relations Manager, Florence Swamy said, "The APSAs acclaim, at a global level, films and filmmakers of the Asia-Pacific region that best reflect their culture, origins and cinematic excellence." She added that the Awards are held in collaboration with CNN International, UNESCO and FIAPF-International Federation of Film Producers Associations."
And, countries from the Asia-Pacific region have ten weeks to submit films for the region's highest accolade in film, the third annual Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSAs). Each country or area of the Asia-Pacific region is eligible to submit a total of 2 feature length films across a choice of 4 categories - Feature, Children's, Animation and Documentary. Details of submission requirements may be obtained from the FAVC.
