Documentary Completes Production in Fiji
Suva, March 2009 - A documentary on the Queen's visit to the Pacific in 1953 has just completed shootingits Fiji segment here.
Making the announcement, FAVC's Chairperson, Sharon Smith-Johns said that the documentary "On Tour with the Queen" is a story which starts with the Queen's coronation, seen as the dawn of the new Elizabethan era." It has locations in Bermuda, Jamaica, Fiji, Australia, New Zealand and Tonga.
"We're pleased to be a part of this historic documentary especially as Fiji has special links with England," said Ms. Smith-Johns.
The documentary was shot around a variety of locations in Fiji and features interviews with people who met the Queen during her visit. It also has interviews with former and current British Army soldiers, experts on Fijian language and culture and former and current Government Ministers. It civers important occasions and events in Fiji's history such as the signing of the Deed of Session, the history of the cane farmers, etc. and highlights events of national interest.
The documentary was shot over two weeks in Fiji. It will be shown on Lion TV Channel 4 in the United Kingdom in May this year. With millions of viewers watching the documentary, said Ms. Smith-Johns, the exposure that Fiji will receive and its implications on tourism will be enormous.
