2010 Kula Film Awards End On High Note
The fifth annual Fiji Audio Visual Commission (FAVC) Kula Film Awards and Dance Competition for high schools concluded last week on a high note. The competitions which continue to grow each year, saw students participating from around the country. A record number of 24 schools participated in both the competitions. As result, the public witnessed 17 films and 39 fantastic dance performances.

Schools' Film Competition
The schools' films were judged for the BSP Best Actor and Best Actress, Vodafone Best Script, TFL Best Director, FM96 Best Original Music, FAVC Most Popular Fim and the main award the FAVC 2010 Best Film.
The Most Popular Film was judged by the public via on-line voting www.kulafilmawards.com.fj and TFL and Vodafone platforms for phoning and texting. All schools' films were shown on FijiTV on Sunday July 4th.
The winners of the schools' filmmaking competition are:
Films "Open" Category
In 2009, the film competition was extended to amateur and professional filmmakers with the introduction of 'Open' Category. This was done to keep alive the interest in filmmaking generated at school level. Recognizing amateur and professional filmmakers will also lead to the creation of an active local film industry. The number of entries received increased from three in 2009 to five this year.

Tukcers Ice Cream Dance Competition
Thirty nine 5-minute scintillating dances were performed in the Bulawood, Bollywood and Hollwood categories. The winners were:

Prizes were also given for the Most Popular Dance Group which was won by Rishikul Sanatan College. Each dancer received a Cross Pen/Pencil Set and the school gets a certificate, trophy and $100 cheque.
