FAVC Wins Website Award
May 7, 2010 - The Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI) recently presented the Fiji Audio Visual Commission (FAVC) with an Award for website marketing. The AFCI Marketing Awards, a global competition encouraging film commissions to put forth winning components of their marketing and advertising campaigns, were presented on April 17 2010 during the Locations Trade Show in Santa Monica, California.

Commenting on the Award, FAVC Chairperson Sharon Smith-JOhns said," The FAVC is honored to receive this awardas our website were scrutinized by independent judging panel of professionals marketing and enterainment experts which assessed each entry according to set criteria and selected the winners." She added that it was noted that the website was attractive, easy to navigate and had all the relevant information for film producers.

Ms. Smith-Johns added that the FAVC website is ranked number one in the Google search engine above the New Zwaland Film Commission and the California Film Commission websites. Google Analytics statistics show that the FAVC website received an increase in the number of visits from the US with a 21% increase in absolute visitors and a 21% increase on new visitors. Visits from US accounted for 60% of the total hits to the site. New Zealand and Australia account for 30% of hits with the balance coming from India, Canada, United Kingdom and France.

The FAVC was represented at the AFCI LOcations Trade Show by its Acting Chef Executive Officer, Mrs. Florence Swamy. Mrs Swamy said that as today's global economy presents the entertainment industry with new challenges, it has become increasingly important to develop marketing advertising campaigns that inspire filmmakers, capture audiences and span cultural divides relevant information on production incentives and facilities. Mrs Swamy added that the FAVC website was recently upgraded to include a photo gallery to showcase the best of Fiji locations to producers.
