FIJI Film Rebate increases to 47%.

Fiji at the 2011 American Film Market
The Fiji Audio Visual Commission (FAVC) has just returned from a very successful marketing campaign at the 2011 American Film Market (AFM), held at Loews Hotel in Santa Monica, California from 2nd - 9th November.

Produced by the Independent Film & Television Alliance (IFTA), this annual event has quickly become the premiere global marketplace where Hollywood's decision-makers and trendsetters all gather under one roof. The AFM attracts participants from approxiamtely 70 countries, during the 8-day event.

Close to 8000 leaders converge for making deals, screenings, seminars, premieres, red carpet events and networking. Participants included acquisition & development executives, agents, attorneys, directors, distributors, festival directors, financiers, film commisioners, producers, writers and the world press.

The FAVC is one of the official sponsors at the 2011 AFM. Leading Fiji's marketing campaign was FAVC's Acting CEO, Mrs Florence Swamy. The FAVC's presence at the market continues to enhance Fiji's profile in the filmmaking world.

The Fiji Government is offering a 47% Film Tax Rebate to overseas productions that wich to film in Fiji. This was promoted at the AFM for the first time and it attracted overwhelming interest. As a result of FAVC's participation at the market and meeting with producers, a number of significant producers have indicated interest in Fiji. An immediate result is the visit to Fiji at the end of the November by a prominent Hollywood-based producer and the script and budget of a film scheduled for production in the third quarter next year.

Mrs Swamy was also given the opportunity to further promote Fiji's incentives at a marketing seminar organized by the AFM to various film industry personnel, which saw more interest towards Fiji's film industry.
